Abstract: How Much is Down There?

By

Jeffery V. Morris

Since Col. Drake started poking holes in the ground, our industry has discovered and produced approximately 800 Tcf of natural gas. At year end 1981 the EIA - Form 23 Report showed the United States with 200 Tcf remaining proved reserves. At the current rate of United States consumption that gives us about a 10 year life.

Is that all we have left? What can we work for in the future? The United States has a large resource potential of natural gas still undiscovered. The Potential Gas Committee has released their latest estimate of the potential supply of natural gas in the United States as of December 31, 1982.
