Abstract:
As a contribution to the general geology of Los Angeles Basin, the stratigraphy, earth movements, and structure of the district are discussed. Formations previously described from separated localities are correlated for the basin as a whole, and certain sediments are subdivided into recently recognized divisions. It is concluded that the productive structure of the district is in part a result of stresses produced by differential horizontal movements which occurred in Pliocene and Pleistocene time.
