Title: Additions to Oil Reserves in California During 1938

Author(s): Harold W. Hoots (2)

Abstract:

Developments in California, including new discoveries and extensions of existing fields, added 253 million barrels of oil to the state's reserve, an amount which is slightly greater than consumption for this year. The success of exploration during the last 3 years has vastly improved over that for the preceding 4 years but only to the extent of discovering new oil at a rate comparable to the yearly demand.
