Abstract:
In 1942, development in South Texas was curtailed due to uncertain conditions in the oil industry. Lack of material and transportation facilities resulted in non-development of proved leases, together with less exploration.
Activity increased along the Wilcox trend, and the general wildcatting policy favored the drilling of large blocks; geophysics is largely influential.
The increased reserves in South Texas have come from the development of known fields. Reserves added by new discoveries are very small.
No new recycling plants were built, but the capacity of several of the older was increased to include the recovery of butane.
