Abstract:
A brief description is given of the main Tertiary geological features of Burma, including a short summary of the geological history of the period as indicated by stratigraphical and structural evidence.
The principal oil fields described in this paper are (a) Chauk and Lanywa which are on one major dome, but separated by the Irrawaddy River, and (b) Yenangyaung on the south. Some details are given of the local stratigraphy, structure, development, and general sand characteristics. A number of problems met with in these oil fields are noted.
Source rocks are briefly discussed.
