Abstract:
Drilling activities in Michigan during 1950 declined in general except for exploratory drilling, which showed a very minor increase over 1949 totals.
Geological testing (core drill work) was very active, reaching a new high during 1950. Activities still centered in the northern and western districts.
Total footage declined, a reflection mainly of decreased development drilling.
Production of oil and gas continued to decline.
Leasing activities continued at a high rate despite efforts to decrease lease inventories.
