Abstract:
Production of oil increased from 58,816,500 barrels in 1951 to 63,078,150 during 1952. In all, 3,167 tests were drilled in District 9, resulting in 1,666 successful completions. Of the successful tests, 205 were exploratory discoveries, 51 of which discovered new fields, compared with 31 new-field discoveries in 1951. The discovery rate on all classifications of exploratory holes was 20 per cent; 66 per cent of the development wells were successfully completed.
The seismograph coverage increased 54 per cent over 1951, with 26 per cent of the work concentrated in Grayson County.
