Abstract:
In 1954 southwestern Ontario had an increase of 20% in exploratory drilling as compared with 1953, while development drilling declined by about the same amount. Oil production in southwestern Ontario amounted to 412,000 barrels, an increase of 37% over 1953, while gas production increased approximately 5%.
The highlights of the remaining basins in Eastern Canada were the acquisition of approximately 1,000,000 acres in the St. Lawrence Lowlands where drilling was carried on in five significant wells, and the issuance of permits covering 1,500,000 acres in the Hudson Bay Lowlands.
