Title: Developments in Mexico in 1953 and 1954

Author(s): Eduardo J. Guzman (2), Federico Mina U. (3)

Abstract:

During 1953 and 1954, 356 and 293 wells in search for oil and gas were drilled in Mexico. Of the total 149 were exploratory tests. Seventy-eight per cent were successful, resulting in the discovery of 27 new oil and/or gas fields, 56 new pools, and 33 extensions to previously known production. A major new oil province was brought into production and new fields along the southeastern continuation of the Golden Lane have substantially contributed to increasing the country's reserves.
