Title: Developments in Arkansas and North Louisiana in 1956

Abstract:

Drilling activity in Arkansas showed a 30% increase in 1956 as compared to 1955. Louisiana, however, had an 18% decrease in over-all drilling activity.

Exploratory wells drilled numbered 519, of which 89 were successful, as compared with 87 successes out of 423 in 1955. Fifty-seven of these successes were in Arkansas; North Louisiana had 32.

Exploratory drilling resulted in 10 new-field discoveries in Arkansas and 16 new-field discoveries in North Louisiana.

Geophysical activity in Arkansas showed a 10% increase over 1955; North Louisiana showed an 11% increase.
