Abstract:
Exploratory activity in the Panhandle District during 1961 was down 15% and development drilling was up 26%. The over-all success ratio was 2% lower and the exploratory success ratio was 10% lower. The Anadarko basin, along with the Panhandle-Hugoton fields, had most of the activity in 1961. The Dalhart and Palo Duro basins were relatively quiet. Childress County became the twenty-first county in the district to establish production with the completion of the R. D. Gunn's Perkins No. 1-A as an oil discovery in the Cisco "Reef."
