Title: Developments in East Texas in 1961

Abstract:

Over-all drilling activity was slightly below that of 1960, both in exploratory and development tests. However, the search for deeper pays resulted in the most footage drilled since 1957.

There were 22 new-field discoveries and 16 field extensions.

Exploratory drilling consisted of 359 tests, 14.2% of which were successful.

Geophysical activity rose 13% and was concentrated primarily in the Smackover trend.
