Abstract:
Drilling and geophysical activity declined in Wyoming during 1961. Three hundred eighty-four exploratory wells resulted in 12 gas discoveries and 12 new oil fields.
Stratigraphic traps accounted for most of the new discoveries and drilling was aimed at finding such traps. The Green River and Powder River Basins accounted for most of the exploratory activity.
Developments in 1962 are expected to follow the same general pattern as in 1961 with only minor changes in the number of wells drilled.
There were no wells drilled in Idaho in 1961.
