Abstract:
Oil production in Kentucky declined about ½ million bbls. in 1962 to 17,789,378 bbls. Gas production showed an insignificant decrease to 69,742,259 MCF, having been affected in part by industrial cutbacks in the Pittsburgh area. United Fuel Gas Company again was the leading producer-purchaser with Kentucky-West Virginia Gas Company a close second; together they accounted for 90.3% of all gas produced in the state. Excellent oil production in Hopkins and McLean Counties created a wave of brisk drilling activity that will continue into 1963.
