Abstract:
Drilling activity in Kansas in 1964 was greater than the previous year because of a marked increase in the completions in the shallow stripper area of southeastern Kansas. The number of completions in the rest of Kansas, however, declined to 2,975 from 3,127 in 1963.
In 1964, 857 exploratory tests were drilled in Kansas. These tests resulted in 105 oil discoveries, 19 gas and condensate discoveries, and 733 dry holes.
There were 13 exploratory tests drilled in Nebraska east of the 98th Meridian, 9 in Iowa, and 7 in Missouri. All were dry.
