Title: Developments in Four Corners-Intermountain Area in 1964

Author(s): Marvin A. Keller (2)

Abstract:

Exploratory activity in the Four Corners-Intermountain Area increased slightly from 1963. New exploratory activity in the Black Mesa and Kaiparowits basins and continued success in the Uinta, Paradox, and San Juan basins together made 1964 an active year.

Southwestern Colorado's Cache field was the most spectacular discovery during the year.

Development drilling declined somewhat in Utah, but remained steady in northwestern New Mexico because of the continued development of the huge gas reserves in the San Juan basin.

The projected exploratory trend for 1965 in the Four Corners area appears to be high. A major discovery in northeastern Arizona will assure a high level of exploratory effort in the Black Mesa basin.
