Title: Developments in North-Central Texas in 1965

Author(s): Laurence S. Cooke (2)

Abstract:

Drilling operations declined 6% to 3,490 wells, continuing the trend of recent years. The percentage of successful exploratory tests increased 2% to 28%, and the percentage of successful development wells increased 4.1% to 67%. Production decreased 2,845,500 bbls. but was still 10.7% of the state total. The most significant discoveries were in the Hardeman basin. The most active area was the Bend flexure. Regrettably, the major oil companies are abandoning exploration in most of the district.
