Title: Developments in Michigan in 1966

Author(s): G. D. Ells (2), R. E. Ives (2)

Abstract:

Overall oil and gas activity was slightly below that of 1965. The most active regions of exploratory and development drilling were St. Clair and Macomb Counties, the Albion-Scipio trend area, and the northwest quadrant of the state. Most of the 11 new discoveries were in the northwestern part of the state.

Total drilled footage was 1,202,697. The total includes: exploratory, 560,941 ft.; development, 608,386 ft.; gas storage and miscellaneous classes, 33,370 ft.

Oil production was 14,273,099 bbls., and gas production was 34,120,015 Mcf. LPG production was 1,846,702 bbls.

A review of 1966 oil- and gas-field developments does not suggest new trends in exploration or geographic regions of interest.
