Abstract:

Washington:
Four unsuccessful new-field wildcats were drilled. Total exploratory footage was 22,637 ft.

Oregon:
Four unsuccessful new-field wildcats were drilled, all offshore. Total exploratory footage was 40,683 ft.

California:
A total of 339 exploratory wells drilled 1,951,507 ft. of hole. The average depth per well was 5,757 ft. Seven new fields (5 oil and 2 gas) and 19 pools (12 oil and 7 gas) were discovered. Exploratory drilling was 10.6 and 11.0% successful in number of wells and footage, respectively. Seventy-nine core holes, 35 onshore and 44 offshore, were drilled for a total of 388,182 ft. Well completions, including development wells, were 2,393, down 119 from 1965. Crude production was 344 million bbls., natural gas production was 716 Bcf., and natural gas liquids were 19.6 million bbls. Basement was reached in 23 unsuccessful exploratory wells.
