Title: Newly Discovered Group of Diapiric Structures in Western Mediterranean: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

Author(s): H. K. Wong (2), E. F. K. Zarudzki (2), S. T. Knott (2), E. E. Hays (2) (3)

Abstract:

A group of diapiric structures off western Sardinia ranges in lateral dimension from 1 to 4 km, and is buried to a maximum depth of 900 m. One unreversed oblique Previous HitreflectionNext Hit-Previous HitrefractionTop seismic profile indicates the possible presence of interbedded high- (or low-) velocity thin layers within the sequence of unconsolidated sediments. These layers may be salt from which the diapirs are derived.
