Title: Silurian and Lower Devonian (Hunton) Oil- and Gas-Producing Formations: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

Author(s): Thomas W. Amsden (2), T. L. Rowland (2)

Abstract:

In central and south-central Oklahoma Hunton oil and/or gas production comes from the Lower Devonian Frisco Formation and probably from the Bois d'Arc Formation, whereas in western Oklahoma most production is believed to be from Upper Silurian strata. Some Middle and Lower Silurian Chimneyhill production, either alone or in conjunction with the overlying formations, occurs in various parts of the state.
