Title: Origin of Petroleum Geology: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

Author(s): Bahngrell W. Brown (2)

Abstract:

The priority for the first clear statement of the principle of structural control for petroleum migration ("anticlinal theory") belongs to T. Sterry Hunt and not to I. C. White as formerly assigned. This note is part of a complete biographical study of a man who G. P. Merrill considered to be of dubious value to geology and R. W. Boyle considered "^hellip one of the great geochemists and mineralogists of all time." Through the Geological Survey of Canada, Hunt made important contributions to petroleum geology.
