Abstract:
The Mountain View fault separates the Frontal Wichitas from the Anadarko basin on the north with a difference in structural relief up to 20,000 ft. The southern part of the basin is characterized by a major tectonic belt known as the Cordell faulted fold belt. It is delineated on the north by the Cordell fault that forms the dividing line between it and the more stable shelf area of the Anadarko basin.
The Mountain View fault, which turns abruptly south-southeastward in Sec. 3, T6N, R12W, is bounded on the east by the Broxton faulted fold belt, the eastern border of which is marked by the Broxton fault. The steeply dipping fold belt is fractured into multiple fault blocks of different sizes and structural relief, and coincides in position and trend with the Frontal Wichitas. Tectonism of the Cordell and Broxton fold belts is an integral part of the overall Wichita deformation.
