Title: Hydrate Formation in Subsurface Environments: GEOLOGIC NOTES

Author(s): G. D. Holder (2), D. L. Katz (2), J. H. Hand (2)

Abstract:

Crude oil from Alaska's North Slope is denuded of light hydrocarbon constituents--methane, ethane, and propane--by hydrate formation reducing the mixture-Previous HitbubbleNext Hit-Previous HitpointTop pressure by 500 psi or more. Hydrates may have denuded completely some shallow Alaskan oil reserves in situ, making the production of this oil much more difficult.
