Abstract:
Exploration and developments of oil and gas properties in Australia remained at a low level during 1976. There were 17 wildcats and 19 development wells drilled. Two of the wildcats had significant gas shows in the Jurassic, 1 a deep test at Barrow Island, Western Australia, and the other in the Cooper basin of South Australia. Geophysical exploration increased in 1976 versus 1975 but was not a significant amount considering the area remaining to be explored. Australia averaged about 411,000 BOPD and 640 MMCFGD. Gas from the Cooper basin commenced to flow to the Sydney market during the year.
