Abstract:
In north-central Texas total drilling increased by 16.8% over 1976, and the wildcat success rate dropped slightly to 17.7%. Gas development, particularly in the Fort Worth basin, surged strongly; gas completions increased by 37% to 531. Considerable shallow oil development continued in older producing areas. Oil production declined by 3.5%, and gas production increased by 15%.
