Title: Oil and Gas Developments in North-Central Texas in 1985

Abstract:

The slight increase in drilling activity from 1983 to 1984 was reversed in 1985 for both Texas Railroad Commission Districts 7B and 9. Development completions were down 16.9% and exploratory completions were down 36.0% in Distrit 9. District 7B had a 9.5% decrease in development completions and a 35.7% decrease in exploratory completions. The total number of wells drilled fell 14.9% in District 9 and 15.8% in District 7B. Exploration footage drilled in District 9 fell 15.2% and development drilling had a 15.9% decrease compared to 1984. Exploration drilling plunged 32.2% in District 7B, whereas development drilling had a modest 6.9% decrease.
