Abstract:
Exploratory drilling in south Texas (Texas Railroad Commission--RRC--Districts 1, 2, and 4) in 1986 was off 23% from 1985, whereas development drilling fell 36%. The Taylor sand play in Bastrop County gave RRC District 1 an increase in exploratory wells. Continued activity and success in the Yegua and Eocene Wilcox sand play resulted in a total of 46 new-field discoveries. Frio exploratory drilling plunged 38%, but still finished the year with 141 wells completed.
