Figure 10. Plot of C29 20S/(20S + 20R) ααα sterane against C29 [(αββ-20S + 20R)/(αββ-20S + 20R) + (ααα-20S + 20R)] sterane isomerization maturity parameters showing that most of the Niger Delta oil samples appear to be of low maturity. Five Niger Delta oil samples biodegraded up to level 6, as described in Peters and Moldowan (1991), were excluded from the plot (modified after Seifert and Moldowan, 1986).
