Major Tectonic Trends in the Prairie Region of Canada

L. A. Sikabonyi

ABSTRACT

The main tectonic belts of the Prairie region of Western Canada are oriented in a northwest direction, but other structural elements may be recognized between the Rocky Mountains and the Canadian Shield, trending in a northeast direction. Isopachs of the Stoddart formation (late Mississippian?) indicate the presence of faulted blocks within the Peace River structural unit.
