Abstracts of Papers: An Interpretation of Erosional Discrepancy, Cypress Hills

C. H. Crickmay

The physiography of the Cypress Hills, a Previous HitflatTop-topped, discontinuous plateau located in southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan, is briefly described. Some selected local details of the upland surface are added to show the perfection of its preservation as a geologically old surface almost untouched by the erosion that has isolated it. The chief conclusion reached is that the Cypress upland survives because denudation proceeds horizontally rather than vertically, but it is specifically concluded that only fluvial erosion has achieved this result.
