Hydrosphere Solid-Earth Interaction
Abstract
New tectonic theories indicate massive hydrosphere-crust-mantle interaction. The ocean ridge environment must be one where cooling involves sea-water motion. Spilites are the metasomatic product. Later interactions in the moving slab may produce heat. During subduction processes large amounts of water may be re-cycled through the mantle. The ocean volumes may be diminishing with time. Many major ore deposits may result from such massive fluid flow processes.
