Lower and Middle Devonian Faunal Zones in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago

Gilbert O. Raasch

Abstract

Fifteen faunal zones are discriminated from the Lower and Middle Devonian succession in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago from Ellesmere Island to Prince Patrick Island. The megafaunal zonal succession, based chiefly on the ranges of brachiopods, trilobites, and graptolites, is correlated with equivalent zones in northwestern Canada, and compared with the brachiopod and conodont zones established in the Great Basin by J. G. Johnson and by Gilbert Klapper.
