Abstract

More than 20 sections of the type Telengitian have been studied. A suite of facies, designated on a profile () by the letters A, B, C and D, show peculiar sedimentary conditions (coastal zone, carbonate platform, open lagoon, slope and flood plain). The distribution of rugose corals, brachiopods, ostracods, conodonts, fish and plant remains was used for recognition of faunal and floral facial associations grouped into three stratigraphic assemblages typical of the Salairka, Belovo, and Shanda Horizons. The assemblages are closely interrelated and, taken together, differ from those known from underlying and overlying deposits. A conodont succession from the dehiscens to serotinus Zones has been established in the Telengitian. The upper part of the Telengitian sequences near Gur’evsk (Upper Shanda Beds) is composed mainly of non-marine deposits yielding plant remains recorded from lower Salairka and Belovo Horizons as well.
