S. V. Cherkesova

Abstract

The paper presents a subdivision scheme of the Lower and Middle Devonian deposits of the Soviet Arctic. For Novaya Zemlya zonal subdivision has been carried out by various specialists through the major faunal assemblages. The established biostratigraphic levels have been traced within the major section types of different facies: from lagoonal through shallow marine to fairly deep water. Correlation between the biostratigraphic levels of the Soviet Arctic and Arctic Canada is presented.
