Structural Significance of the Floresville-Stockdale Trend

Leland L. Palmer (1)

ABSTRACT

Production found along the Floresville-Stockdale Trend is controlled by up-to-the-coast faulting with the exception of the Acleto Creek Field, To date the Carrizo, the top of the Lower Wilcox (Bartosh sand) and the Poth sand (Midway) have been proven commercially productive of oil and/or gas. Small amounts of oil have been produced from the Buda lime and Georgetown lime. The Edwards lime has had good shows of oil in several wells drilled at various points along the fault system. Only in a few places does the fault which controls production in the subsurface show as a surface fault. Many apparent surface faults which show as sandstone dikes have not been proven, as yet, to have any displacements in the subsurface.
