The Northern Structural Rim of the Gulf Basin

R. D. Woods (1)

ABSTRACT

Rimming the Gulf basin are a series of Paleozoic tectonic elements that exercised considerable control over the shape and character of the basin during an extended period of its history. Only the northern part of the rim is presently known in some detail. This part, the Llanoria structural belt, has now been mapped by means of metamorphic facies which not only delineate the trend but also serve as a guide to the general structural nature of the rim.
