Abstract
Abstract: A Personal Computer as the Heart of a Geologic and Engineering Work Station
Richard B. Banks (1)
ABSTRACT
Hardware and software for personal computers have matured to the point where personal computers can represent the heart of geological and engineering work stations. And if there are presently some minor limitations in memory size, compute speed or mass storage capability, these limitations will quickly evaporate in the glow of new technical enhancements.
An IBM PC is being used as the central processing unit for a geological and engineering work station which digitizes, contours and plots geophysical, geological and engineering data. In addition the system has interactive graphics capabilities for decline curve processing, plus reserve monitoring and economic calculations.
