PVT Correlations for Indonesian Crude Oils

Abstract

This paper discusses the accuracy of four published empirical methods for estimating Previous HitbubbleNext Hit Previous HitpointNext Hit pressure and formation volume factor of oil at Previous HitbubbleNext Hit Previous HitpointNext Hit pressure for Indonesia oil and gas mixtures. Of the four methods for determining oil formation volume factor, the equations developed by Standing, Glaso and Ali-Al Marhoun yield comparable results with the Standing's offers the best result. They are valid for Indonesia oil and gas mixtures; the accuracy, however, declines for values greater than 1.300 Barrel per Stock Tank Barrel (Bbl/STB).

For Previous HitbubbleNext Hit Previous HitpointTop determination, all the four methods tend to yield lower values and overall the accuracies are poor. Given low dissolved gas oil ratio and relatively high gas gravity, the correlating parameters of many Indonesia oils are outside the range of data used in developing the correlations. Subsequently, a modified empirical equation exclusively for Indonesia oil systems was developed. Deviations from experimentally determined data, indicated by statistical error analysis are lower for the modified equation than for estimations based on the published correlations.
