The Economic and Risk Analysis of Oil Field Development in Timor Gap-Zone of Cooperation Area A

Abstract

Area A, in Timor Gap's Zone of Cooperation, is administered by an Indonesia - Australia Joint Authority. Area A, one of three agreed discrete areas in the zone, is divided into fourteen production sharing areas. The economics of exploration and development of this area depends on the expected reserves, the water depth and the contractual system.

This paper will discuss the influence of the above parameters on the economics of oil field development in the Area. The economic indicator evaluated is minimum reserve sizes. Risk analysis, by varying the influencing parameters, such as costs, prices and production on the minimum reserve sizes are also presented.
