Chapter 5: Source Rock Maturation and Diagenetic Modeling in Badger Basin
ABSTRACT
Maturation analyses of potential source rocks and the diagenetic modeling of reservoir sandstones enhance our understanding of the petroleum system and reservoir-formation mechanisms operative in a petroliferous basin. Application of these technologies to Badger Basin in the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming reveals that Frontier Formation sandstones are potential reservoir rocks; several sets of hydrocarbon source rocks may have contributed oil and gas to these reservoir rocks.
