Productive Low Resistivity Well Logs of the Offshore Gulf of Mexico: A Summary

Glenmore Shelton(1)(2)(3), W. A. Hill(2)(3)

ABSTRACT

Log sections of over 150 examples of low resistivity or low contrast (LRLC) reservoirs with established production history are included in this book. These were selected from over 330 wells and are representative of the productive trends of the offshore Gulf of Mexico. The mean historical production of the completions in this atlas is 550 MBO or 6.0 BCFG. The comparable average of all completions in the Gulf is 380 MBO or 5.6 BCFG. The distribution of LRLC completions ranges in age from middle Miocene to upper Pleistocene. The depositional environments include the Texas shelf and the Louisiana shelf and shelf-slope transition zones.
