Abstract
Pennsylvanian Sandstone Trends in Eastern Oklahoma
ABSTRACT
Linear sandstone trends in the Pennsylvanian of eastern Oklahoma (Bartlesville and Booch sands) have been studied on the surface (in the field) and in the subsurface. Theories of origin which identify these bodies as dune-strips, eskers, or river channel fill are specifically rejected. A synthesis of field and subsurface evidence supports the concept that they belong in the chenier-beach ridge-barrier island category. The paleogeography so obtained is consistent with previous results.
