Abstract
Grain Orientation in Shallow Marine -- Shoreface Sandstones
ABSTRACT
Grain orientation in two Ordovician sandstones and one Cretaceous sandstone, which are all characterized by shallow marine-shoreface environmental indicators, is normal to depositional strike. Wave-related and/or tidal currents are thought to have been the dominant depositional process. Grain imbrication suggests that both shoreward and seaward currents were significant, with the latter having been the more common depositional agent.
