Relationship Between Parasitic Folds and Tectonic Evolution, Potato Hills, Ouachita Mountains, Oklahoma

Mark W. Allen

ABSTRACT

Parasitic folds are present in a fault-related anticline in the central Potato Hills. The development of these minor folds indicates an early, overall layer-parallel shortening event occurred in the Potato Hills region before significant folding. This supports the hypothesis that the North Potato Hills thrust is a back thrust indicating a window is nonexistent.
