Abstract

Previous HitWhiteNext Hit Mound is a world famous fossil-collecting locality located in the Arbuckle Mountains ~ 3.0 miles southeast of Dougherty in southeastern Murray County, Oklahoma. The Haragan Formation of the Hunton Group has yielded a profuse marine invertebrate fauna of Early Devonian age for more than a century with well over 100 species identified. Specimens of brachiopods, corals, trilobites, gastropods, bryozoans, crinoids, bivalves, nautiloid cephalopods, and sponges from Previous HitWhiteNext Hit Mound are widely distributed in public schools, universities, museums, and private collections throughout the United States and the world. Thousands of students from colleges and universities in Oklahoma and from other institutions throughout the United States and abroad have tramped the Arbuckles to collect the elusive fossils of the Previous HitWhiteTop Mound area.
