Abstract
Spring Domes Developed in Limestone: NOTES
Iain A. Williamson
ABSTRACT
A group of dome shaped features in Lower Carboniferous (Mississippian) limestones in Northwest Lancashire, England are described. Radial jointing is crudely developed and many of the features are characterised by a central crater. No such features have been previously described; they are interpreted as non-diastrophic structures developed by the expulsion of water from an underlying source. The descriptive term "spring-dome" is suggested for the structures.
