Abstract
Cyclic Bedding in Pure Carbonate Rocks from South-Central France
John C. Stewart (2)
ABSTRACT
Field and laboratory analyses of Oligocene carbonate rocks from the Massif Central region of France emphasize the dolomitic nature of the rocks and their cyclic bedding. The section displays an alternation between a very finely-crystalline, white calcite-dolomite mixture and a similar lithology, richer in dolomite and mottled with irregular tan dolomite masses. Thickness of cycles averages 0.5 meters.
