Abstract
A Note on the Replacement in Joints: NOTES
Matthew H. Nitecki
ABSTRACT
Spectrographic analyses were run on a solution enlarged joint in the Salem Limestone of Indiana. The replacement of calcium carbonate is most active at the wall of the joint and decreases away from it. It is suggested that the process of replacement in limestone may be facilitated by the joint pattern, and that the joints may offer an easy path for the solution, which simultaneously dissolves the carbonates and replaces them.
