Abstract
Surface Morphology of Some Limestone Types as Revealed by Electron Microscope
Rikii Shoji, Robert L. Folk
ABSTRACT
Electron microscope study of fractured surfaces of limestones reveals features that correlate well with the appearance of the specimens in the optical microscope. Smooth, granular, acicular, and rhombohedral surfaces are recognizable; some of them are spongy in detail. Mysterious features are the presence of tiny unknown inclusions (?), and the lack of radial fibrous structure in fracture surfaces of ancient oolites.
